We would like to take a moment to thank all of you who have been with us for so long. Our band is growing in so many directions and without you guys, we wouldn't be where we are today. Thanks!
Just played our biggest show ever this past weekend, 99.5 X-Fest. National acts Shinedown, Saliva, Lost Prophets, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, & Plain White Tees all rocked the main stage. We had a blast. Hopefully, we can get some pictures up soon. Tomorrow is Halloween, and in our hometown of Greenville, NC there is always a rockin' party going on downtown. Streets are closed off, snipers on roof-tops, and lots of drunk college girls flashing everyone in site. We'll be playing at Scores, right on the main strip of downtown. If you're in Greenville, check it out. If not check the shows page and see when we'll be playing in you're hometown. Until next time, Supoort Local Music.
This band has been together over three years. Ean (our lead singer) has been with the band a little over a year. In the past six months we have really been through the ringer. Not only have we moved out of playing shows in our area of Eastern North Carolina, we are pushing as far as New York and Florida. A pretty big step. Check out our shows page and see when and where we'll be over the next couple of months. Also, our deal with our indie label didn't work out. Nobody's fault, it's just that they had a different idea for Katharsis than we did so, we decided to get out before things got to serious. This in turn has kept us off our original plan of starting a tour in November. We're pushing strong for January and would appreciate any help anyone can offer. Later.
This Saturday we'll be headlining the first ever Greenville RiverRock Festival at the Town Commons in Greenville, NC. This festival is all about supporting local music, one of our biggest pushes. Come out Saturday, Sept 9th for an all day event starting at 11 in the morning and finishing with us 7:45pm. Check out the official RiverRock website for all the details. See you there.
This past month has been a whirlwind. We've been getting things in place for a small tour (possibly a big tour if everything works out) and playing our local shows. Also, we've been hard at work writing new material. If you've been to any of our recent shows you might have gotten a taste. We just wanted everyone to know that we haven't forgotten about katharsisrock.com, just been busy with all the other BS. We'll be taking some new pictures pretty soon, so be on the look out for those. Check out the shows page to see when we'll be hitting your town. Also, if you haven't been to our MySpace page, here is the link. Add us as friend, leave a comment, whatever. We'll see you on the road.
Working on new material is never easy. We want it to meet our fans expectations and our own. Over the past few months, we've been taking time to sit down and work on new songs and make old songs better. If you've been coming out to a lot of our shows, you've noticed a lot of the same sets. Don't worry, you're about to here some amazing new music from us. So, stay tuned and head over to our shows page to see when we'll be coming around. We'll see you on the road.
Last weekend was the first one we've had off in a long time and we've been using the time to work on new material as well as checking out other local bands. With that said, we'll be hitting the scene hard this summer, starting this Friday in Myrtle Beach. Then back to Greenville, NC on Saturday to play Dr. Unks for the second time. Head over to our friend, Brad Benson's page, (on our links page) we've left him a very nice comment.
Just wanted to drop a quick line out there and thank everyone of you who have been coming out to our shows. We're staying pretty busy throughout this summer and hope to see a lot of old friends and meet a lot of new people. We've redisigned our Shows Page a little. Let us know what you think by sending an email. Also, we've seen you guys taking pictures at the shows. Send them our way and we'll post them on our site. Once agin, thank you for supporting local music, we'll see you soon.
We told you we'd be back to Raleigh, NC before to long. Well, that time has come. Tonight we'll be opening for Sold at the Dive Bar. If you live in Raleigh or are in the neighborhood, you should come check it out. We've added a bunch of show recently, so check out our show page and find out when we'll be in your neck of the woods. Also, we've added a couple of new tracks to our media page: Seraphim and an acoustic version of Captivity. Let us know what you think about the songs by hitting us up with an email.
There was some scheduling conflicts with our Myrtle Beach show and it didn't happen. We'll be playing there for sure on June 9th. Don't worry, we'll remind you. Sorry for any confusion. Check back later this week for our wallpaper section, you don't want to miss it. Also, keep sending in your show photos, that section will be up very soon.
If you haven't check out our MySpace Page, now is the time to do it. We've recently added a live acoustic track of Captivity. Garett and Ean rocked out at Ham's a few weeks ago and our good friend Travis Proctor was kind enough to record the session. This past Friday we played at On Cue in Greenville, NC and had an awesome time (minus the power going out during our first song). We'll be playing there again in September, if not sooner. On Friday, we head to South Carolina to play our first out-of-state show in Myrtle Beach. We'll be playing with a great band from that area named Silenced. If you're in or around Myrtle Beach this weekend you should definitely check out Ron Jon's on Friday night.
From Greenville on Thursday to Kinston on Saturday, we've been making some Eastern Carolina rounds. We had the opportunity to play with some great bands (Assembly Required and Jagged Magnum) check them out on our links page. If you'd like to exchange links, let us know. We're always looking for bands and clubs to add on our links page. We also got some new shirts. You can check them out on our merch page: World Tour '78. This Friday we'll playing at On Cue in Greenville, NC with special guest Mark Gould.
Many "firsts" were accomplished this past week. Last Friday we played our first show in Raleigh, NC and for the first time got to play outdoors. It was great weather and we had fun supporting a good cause. Raleigh, we appreciate your hospitality and can?t wait to return (May 19th @ The Dive Bar). On Monday, we returned home to Greenville, NC to rock out at Ham?s Restaurant. This was going to be our second straight show getting to play outside. We set all of our equipment up on the back patio and started the show around 9:00. Two songs into the second set, we got shut down by the Greenville Police Department. After deliberation (and a fine from the police) we packed our gear, moved it inside, and set everything back up, all in about 30 minutes. The show must go on. Special thanks to everone who helped us moved the operation indoors. You guys rock! This was the first time cops had ever shutdown our show.
Looking forward, we?ll be playing at Dr. Unks in Greenville on Thurday. This is our first time playing there, so come out and have some fun with us. If you?re in the Kinston, NC area this Saturday, we?ll be playing at Club X-Ale (behind Vernon Park Mall). Also, a little heads up, we are working on some new tracks that we'll be releasing pretty soon. So, be on the look out for that and check back to the website very soon for new features that we'll be adding. If you have any suggestions about content for the site please send us an email.
This Friday we?ll be playing a benefit show at Mission Valley in Raleigh, NC. It?s a benefit show for the Katrina victims of last year?s hurricane. The Delta Zeta Sorority of NC State University is sponsoring this show and there will be four other bands playing. If you?re in the Raleigh area you should definitely stop by and show your support. The show starts around 5pm. Hope to see you there.
On Monday night we?ll be back on our home turf in Greenville, NC. Come down to Ham?s Brewhouse at 9pm for an end of semester (ECU) spectacular. We?ll being playing until 11pm then you can head down to Dr. Unks and catch our good friend Brad Benson tearing it up. Speaking of Dr. Unks, we?ll be playing there the follow Thursday, April 26th. Show starts at 10pm with special guest Assembly Required from Kinston, NC.
This past weekend we were honored to have an amazingly hot chick model our t-shirts. Her name is Andrea and you can check her out on the merch page.
We just got our first shipment of shirts, you can check them out on our merch page. See our design and the meaning behind why we made these shirts. This past weekend we played in New Bern and Kinston, North Carolina. If you made it to either or both of these shows, Thank You. We sold a bunch of shirts and met a lot of really cool people. We also played the first night of the Local Band Wednesday at the Next Door in Kinston. It?s new support system for local bands in North Carolina. So, if you haven?t been out to The Next Door in Kinston on a Wednesday night, you should really check it out.
We've ascended to the level of having our own website and here you are. In the future you can look to our website for news updates, show information, merchandise, and the latest songs from Katharsis.
